Ghana Black Stars lost 2-0 to Mexico in a friendly match played at Bank of America Stadium

The Black Stars of Ghana put on a good fight on Sunday morning but it was not enough to escape defeat at the hands of El Tri of Mexico.

The two national teams locked horns at the Bank of America Stadium in an international friendly game today.

For the Black Stars, this game is helping the side prepare for the start of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month.

The game is also expected to help Coach Chris Hughton as he prepares the Black Stars for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
While the Black Stars would start the game strongly, the Mexicans had too much power in their arsenal to neutralise any threat posed by the opposition.

The first half of limited chances ended in a goalless draw but Mexico did enough in the second half to win the game.

Poster boy Hirving Lozano scored with a low drive in the 57th minute to give Mexico the lead before Uriel Antuna netted the vital insurance goal in the 72nd minute to put Ghana to bed.

The defeat of the Black Stars today is the first since Coach Chris Hughton took over as head coach of the Ghana male senior national team.

Up next for Ghana, the Black Stars will take on the USA in a similar friendly match on Tuesday, October 17.
