Creative director B.O.K Africa Apparel and writer Selorm Ameza have called on the country, Ghana to transform Ho the capital city of the Volta Region into a modern city of light. According to him, the landscape and tourism potential of Ho should be maximised to attract more tourists. He also noted that few lights dotted across Ho city create exciting views and scenery that need to be developed into a money-making machine.
He wrote
I think there should be a deliberate and intentional attempt to transform the landscape of #HO, the Capital city of the Volta Region into a “City of Lights”. Been to Ho a few times and one of the things that kicks my excitement as a Tourism enthusiast is the way Ho lights up in the evenings.
The view is always breathtaking if you watch the city from the mountains. The city looks very lively with the way the lights dot all over the place. It has a healing power and a deliberate attempt to create such scenes of Lightening mixed with Art all over Ho, would make for a very beautiful tourist attraction.
And then I saw the view of the mountains from a moving car yesterday and it was equally breathtaking. I can’t tell you the area cos I don’t really know Ho, but then I hear it’s a Hotel and the view was beautiful. And it would have been crazy if there was a deliberate attempt to add Art and creativity to the lights and make it look extraordinary.
We can use solar energy to power the lights💡 so it would be affordable to manage. It still beats my mind why African governments are not investing in Solar energy when we have the hot sun in abundance.
And then kind of having the feeling to come to spend the next 2 months in Ho with my sewing machine laaa. I’d want to experience Ho and write plenty about the many cultures and History of the Capital city of my Region, as well as the many Tourist attractions worth identifying around.
Ho is beautiful! But then a deliberate attempt to add lightning to the landscape can make it a more beautiful “City of Lights in the middle of the Mountains”!
