"It’s a huge disappointment but grateful for your support" – Alexander Djiku on Ghana’s FIFA World Cup exit

Rock-Solid Center-back Alexander Djiku has reacted to Ghana’s painful defeat to Uruguay on Friday evening at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah at the FIFA Mundial.

The Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace defender has expressed his disappointment after Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay on Friday evening to exit the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament. According to him, it is very disappointing to leave Qatar early yet grateful to the Ghana fans who came in their numbers to support the team in Qatar during their two weeks stay. 

“It’s a huge disappointment but if u knew how grateful we are to have been supported by you our Ghanaian fans.”

“We would have liked to continue the adventure but we have never been more proud to wear the colors of Ghana. It was a dream to play a World Cup for my country”, he Tweeted. 

Ghana lost 2-0 in their final Group H game against the South America side which cost them a place in the next stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament. 

Ghana and Uruguay both exited the competitions as both teams bowed out with South Korea qualifying alongside Portugal.
