Kuami Eugene and Mr Drew

Lynx Entertainment signee, Kuami Eugene has revealed that he wrote about eighty percent of Mr Drew’s hit song, "Case."

According to the “Rockstar,” he wrote the hook and some part of the second verse.

"Mr Drew’s song, "Case" I wrote the hook, and some part of the second verse. I wrote like 80 percent of that song. In fact, before he came to record the song that hook and everything was already done, he heard it and sang it back. So, I do writing for other artists as well," Kuami Eugene told Naana Donkor Arthur in an interview.

Kuami Eugene explains that despite writing what seems to be one of the biggest songs in Ghana right now, he has not gotten the needed credit, and it hurts that he has to use this platform to call Mr Drew out.

"It’s quite unfortunate that this is the platform I have to send a message to Mr Drew to prompt him to do what he needs to do because the song is doing good. That hook is great. If I had sang it by myself, it would have still been a hit song because I wrote that song thinking about wish me well," he lamented.

Kuami Eugene also expressed his desire for the need for talents to be credited in the entertainment industry.

"He’s a brother. I wish we could appropriate where credit is due in the industry and give respect so we can move on as individuals," he stated.

He continued; All I heard from him was like bro, the song, make we drop and that was when I was in America. That was when he texted to ask if we should drop the song but because of the time difference, I was asleep and when I woke up, he didn’t inform my manager or anything and the second person who was around when we recorded the song texted me later to inform me he (Drew) had dropped the song. I texted him (Drew) to ask and he left me on read.

Backstory: Mr Drew gave Kuami Eugene credit on “Case”

Mr Drew’s "Case" quickly gained attention upon its release, with some music lovers suggesting that it is a shade song to Ghanaian music producer and CEO of Highly Spiritual record label, Kaywa, who had previously worked with Mr Drew.

However, the crooner clarified during an interview with Naa Ashorkor and Cookie Tee on the New Day Show On TV3 that he did not make the song for his former boss.

According to him, he co-wrote the 'Case' song with his colleague singer, Kuami Eugene, about 3 years ago, adding that it was supposed to be released before his ‘Later’ song which featured Kelvyn Boy.

"Oh no, I don’t think I would be someone who will make a song for just 1 person. Funny enough the song is 3 years. Oh yeah, I wrote it 3 years ago. I actually wrote this song with Kuami Eugene and I was planning to release that instead of ‘Later’ featuring Kelvyn Boy. I was looking for a song to release and then I was going through the beat I had, so this is not the actual beat, it is a highlife song," he stated.
